Amy received her bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from Middle Tennessee State University in 1994 and her master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Tennessee -Knoxville in 1997. Her professional journey commenced that same year as a speech-language pathologist within the Wilson County School System.

For more than 25+ years, Amy has been providing speech language therapy to toddlers through adults in schools, private practice, community, and home settings. In July of 2024, Amy began her business, Elation Speech & Language Services. She has focused her career on understanding and treating individuals with autism, ADD/ADHD, and many other speech language delays and thought it was time to give her clients the individual service and treatment they deserve. Amy’s child/person-led, neuroaffirming therapy approach builds rapport, confidence and trust with her clients and their families.

Throughout her career, Amy has been fortunate to collaborate with many occupational therapists, physical therapists, vision therapists, psychologists, special educators, and pediatricians. These interactions have increased her understanding of the significant impact that sensory integration, gross motor stability, vision, social-emotional-mental health, education, and overall well-being impact the lives of her clients and their families.

In addition to tailored speech language therapy, Amy provides training and consulting for parents, families, caregivers, and educators. Her expertise spans areas such as articulation, phonological processing, apraxia, autism, language and literacy, and augmentative alternative communication, complemented by her national certification as an NLA clinician.

Amy is a life-long learner and truly enjoys listening to podcasts, joining SLP groups on social media and collaborating with her besties about all things’ speech, language and being a business owner. She is the proud mother of two college aged daughters and enjoys learning and practicing functional health, working out, reading, and cooking.
